In a house this small, what is the best way to create a really striking sense of space?
Firstly, incorporating the garden into the perceived space of the house by installing a new pre-fabricated garden room at the end of the garden, so that the garden acts as a courtyard between two living spaces, promoting a sense of indoor-outdoor living.
Secondly, opening up part of the ground floor living rom right up to the roof, so that the upstairs landing becomes a balcony overlooking the living area.
Lastly, opening up as much as possible between the front room and the back even though, as with all our proposals, we have not suggested relocating the stairs.
In this way we can create a real spatial transformation. We imagine the garden room being a home office or studio, and it can also double a a spare room for guests.
