The above image on the right is before, and the lower, our proposal. Renovation of an existing bungalow on a seaside plot at the far end of the Ile de Ré in western France, to create a holiday compound for a large family. The proposal worked within the Island’s rigorous planning rules requiring precise limits on additional floor area, white rendered walls, window shutters and tiled roofs of a particular pitch, the outcome being an unusual layout promoting both privacy and community, and with a focus on outdoor living.
