Cany Ash MA RIBA FRSA

Cany Ash is a founder partner of Ash Sakula Architects. Before setting up the practice in 1994 Cany Ash worked for Green Market in New York, Leon Wolhage in Berlin, DEGW and the GLC Architects Department in London.

She is an RIBA competitions Advisor, an RIBA Stirling Prize jury member, a Design Council CABE Enabler and a Client Design Advisor in education. She is an external examiner at Cambridge University and a visiting critic at East London, North London and Greenwich Universities, and at the Bartlett and the AA.

Jointly with Robert Sakula she leads all Ash Sakula’s projects, with particular interests in edu- cation, open space and regeneration

 

Robert Sakula BA BArch RIBA

After studying architecture at the University of Liverpool, Robert Sakula worked for Sir Clough Williams-Ellis at Portmeirion, and with David Lea, a pioneer in sustainable architecture using innovative timber frame techniques. He then joined DEGW Architects, working on projects in Mexico, Monte Carlo and the UK before co-founding Ash Sakula Architects in 1994.

Robert Sakula has taught architectural design at the Architectural Association, the University of North London and the University of East London, and is an external examiner at the University of Newcastle. He has taught and lectured on architecture in Stockholm, Oslo, Milan, Berlin and Chongqing. He is a RIBA Competitions Advisor and a Civic Trust Awards Assessor. He is a member of the London Borough of Newham Design Review Panel.

With Cany Ash he jointly leads all Ash Sakula’s projects, with particular interests in the arts, housing and urban design.
