Our proposal for a derelict children’s hospital site on London’s Hackney Road. We proposed keeping all the existing buildings, and converting them into apartments, and supplementing them with new buildings in vacant areas of the triangular site. The Victorian buildings provided spacious apartments with high ceilings and large windows. We added two penthouse floors to the fine Brutalist tower (an iconic sixties building by Lyons Israel Ellis). In all the scheme provided 200 apartments as well as ground floor café, shops, community centre and children’s play area.
